The terrace on the Saturday afternoon was quite crowded, but service remained fast and courteous. For small eaters, there is the possibility to order half portions. Good basic Portuguese food in a cantina setting. Clam starter was deliciously garlicky and between us we had a delicious wild boar stew and an equally tasty casserole of lamb neck. The house wines were good value and there was a great choice of typical Portuguese pudding- almonds, carobs and chocolate predominating.
Not a tourist restaurant and open all year round apart from the odd week or two in early November and April. Lovely location although could be a little difficult to find if you don’t know Silves. We were treated first class from the moment we walked in. Food was lovely. Recommend mixed black pork if you are hungry. Friends had Wild Boar,Seabass and Turkey all cooked perfect and well enjoyed. If you have sweet ask for the homemade.
We spend an excellent evening on the terrace with a beautiful view on the Silves castle. The food is typical Portuguese very fresh and delicious.
The service is quick and our server was clearly engaged to make us discover the flavor of his home country and town. Service with real passion. Unfortunately this has been very rare on our Portugal trip! Don’t’ miss the homemade deserts and ignore the alternative frozen stuff from “Carte D’or” :- we will certainly return before going home!
